Celebrating 3000 Signatories to the Women’s Night Safety Charter

3000 Signatory Milestone!

The Women’s Night Safety Charter for London has reached a major milestone, welcoming its 3,000th signatory, Harley Street BID, as more businesses and organisations across the capital sign-up.

Launched by the Mayor of London, the Charter sets out steps for businesses and communities to help women feel safer across the city. With over 3,000 signatories, it unites sectors in one shared goal: a safer London for women and girls.

By joining, Harley Street BID shows its commitment to making the district safer for women who live, work, visit, and socialise. They’ve pledged to seven key actions, including appointing a safety champion, training staff, encouraging reporting, and working with local businesses to create safer spaces at night.

Ashley Durling, Head of Operations and Security at Harley Street BID, said: “We are proud to stand alongside our London BID counterparts in championing this important initiative. Safety is central to our vision for the district, and by committing to the Women’s Night Safety Charter, we are taking meaningful action to create a safer, more welcoming environment for all.”

Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime, Kaya Comer Schwartz, said: “Women and girls deserve to be safe and feel safe wherever they are and whatever time of day in London. That’s why it is so important that more than 3,000 venues and organisations across our city have now signed up to the Mayor’s Women’s Night Safety Charter, pledging to take practical steps to help women feel safer.

“At City Hall we continue to do everything in our power to tackle violence against women and girls once and for all, including investing a record £233million of funding into prevention, intervention and victims support services. We will continue to work together with the police and partners across London to build a safer London for everyone.

Sarah Walker, Project Manager for the Charter at Safer Business Network said “Reaching 3,000 signatories is a powerful demonstration of the collective commitment across London to making our city safer for women and girls. Each new signatory brings fresh energy and practical action to the Charter, and I’m delighted to welcome Harley Street BID as our latest partner. Their plans to deliver specialist training and create safe havens will make a real difference, showing how local leadership can help foster safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone.”

This milestone highlights the strength of collective action and shared determination of London’s communities to tackle violence against women and girls.
