Partnership Leads to Ban for Prolific Offender

This month’s story takes us through multiple areas of London with stops in Lewisham, Greenwich, and Waterloo where a particular individual was understood to have been involved in numerous incidents of theft.

The person in question was on the radar of locals in the community, the Metropolitan Police and Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) members, but was proving elusive. By working together tirelessly, it was possible for the local authorities and BCRPs to collect and collate 23 incidents of theft involving this one particular offender.

The result was that the individual was identified and issued an Exclusion Notice which then had to be escalated to a Community Protection Notice (CPN), eventually resulting in a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO). In simple terms - this person is no longer allowed to go into businesses in these areas and this will stay in place for three years.

This is excellent news for the local businesses, employees, and customers as they can now work and shop with a bit more peace of mind.

It highlights the importance of crime reporting and the direct, positive impact that it can have on businesses and communities; without those reports, this outcome simply would not have been possible. It also serves as a prime example of the results that can come from teamwork and collaborative efforts and the incredible effect that can have on our local communities, helping to make them safer and more inviting for businesses, staff, and shoppers.
